Visibility is one of the crucial factors taken into account by Crown designers in the newly launched SC4200 Series of three-wheeled counterbalanced lift trucks.
“A clear-view mast and a low-profile dashboard allow operators to see their forks with their fork tip indicators all around the truck enabling excellent visibility for improved safety and productivity,” says Darryl Shafto MD Goscor Lift Truck Company (GLTC) distributors of the Crown range in southern Africa.
The demand for the SC4200 Series in southern Africa is already at very high levels and this is no surprise. It is one of the finest machines ever produced in this industry. “This truck’s significantly lowered cost of ownership has been recognised by the market and I believe the demand for the SC4200 Series will reach historic heights,” says Shafto.
There are several unique features to this truck. The Crown-built AC-drive motor matches motor performance to the task. The demand for high-efficiency systems that closely match customer's torque and acceleration requirements is met with this generation motor technology. The gearbox is quiet and reliable, providing years of trouble-free service.
Also in the SC4200 series is Crown's exclusive, e-GEN™ braking system where motor braking is optimized and assisted by electric friction brakes, virtually eliminating maintenance associated with disc brakes or drum and shoe-style brakes.
According to Shafto one of the most important selling features of the SC4200 is Crown's Access 1 2 3 technology, which provides superior diagnostics and is complemented by the InfoPoint System which significantly reduces maintenance costs related to troubleshooting and downtime.
“Access 1 2 3 technology allows a technician to pinpoint problems, test components, and quickly solve the problem,” says Shafto
Shafto adds four additional factors that have made the SC4200 Series one of the most unique counterbalanced truck ever produced by Crown.
• Stability enhanced counterweight – In testing Crown always uses real world, worst case, scenarios, which is why the SC4200 Series features a counterweight that exceeds required standards, significantly enhancing stability.
• Ram speed control – when operating on a ramp, the intelligent control system maintains the truck at a constant speed so it won’t gain or loose momentum. This feature also automatically holds the truck when stopped on an incline until the operator initiates forward or reverse travel.
• Cornering speed control – with its on-board intelligence the SC4200 Series monitors the weight on the forks, the angle of the steer wheels and the speed of the truck, and it uses this information to automatically adjust the speed in turns during forward travel.
• Mast construction – exceptional stability is evident when side-shifting. The sturdy mast design significantly reduces the twisting and swaying common in side-shifting operations with lighter lift duty trucks.
Ergonomic advantages on the SC4200 Series start with the seat armrests and controls and extend to everything in the operator compartment, and even into the work environment.
Easy entry/exit is achieved through a low step height and the widest step in its class (that Crown detail again!), convenient handholds, a contoured power unit, a tilt steering wheel and additional head room. And there’s no parking bake lever to get in the way, because the brakes are automatically applied when the operator leaves the truck.
Shafto says that the impeccable attention to detail of Crown has contributed to it becoming one of the finest of its kind in the industry and concluded saying that working with Crown has been one of the key factors in the success of Goscor’s lift truck business.
